The anticipation is over, as we are very happy to announce the premiere date for our first-ever documentary – Seagrass: The Hidden Life Beneath Our Shores.
We cordially invite you to join us on June 9th, 2026, at the University of Galway for a half-day event and be one of the very first people to watch the documentary. The event is open to all members of the public.
The documentary follows researchers from the National University of Ireland, Galway, including their work within the European CLIMAREST project, as they map, study and restore seagrass meadows along Ireland’s west coast. Their research offers new insight into how we can protect these fragile ecosystems and why preserving them matters for the future of our planet. Seagrass restoration is a reminder that healthy ecosystems cannot thrive in linear economic systems, characterised by extraction and waste.
At the premiere, the director and producer of the film, Órla Coutin Fitzsimons, will share more about the making of the film and the interesting people you get to see in the interview. Not only is it the launch of our film, but it is also the official launch of Dr Liam Morrison’s Seagrass poster, which you will get to see and hear about. And to prolong the fun, we have also invited an Irish botanist, specialising in algae, as a keynote speaker.
Stay tuned for the programme, which will be released shortly! Follow us on our social media, linked below, to receive the most recent updates. Come and learn more about the preservation of Ireland’s blue forests! Also, a great opportunity to chat, exchange ideas and connect.
