Our New Seagrass Documentary Is Coming in Early 2026, Watch the Trailer Now

At Zero Waste Alliance Ireland, we’re excited to share a first look at a project we’ve been quietly working on over the past few months: A full length documentary exploring one of Ireland’s most overlooked climate heroes: Seagrass.

Launching in early 2026, this film takes viewers beneath the surface of Ireland’s coastline to reveal the extraordinary role seagrass meadows play in capturing carbon, supporting marine life, and protecting our shores. These underwater ecosystems are essential to the health of our oceans, yet many people have never seen them, or even heard of them.

The documentary follows researchers from the National University of Ireland, Galway, including their work within the European CLIMAREST project, as they map, study and restore seagrass meadows along the west coast. Their research offers new insight into how we can protect these fragile ecosystems and why preserving them matters for the future of our planet.

Alongside the science, the film also highlights the broader environmental message at the heart of our work: a circular, zero-waste approach to how we live, consume and care for nature. Seagrass restoration is not just a scientific effort, it’s a reminder that healthy ecosystems rely on cycles, not linear systems of extraction and waste.

We can’t wait to share the full documentary with you in 2026.
For now, we’re proud to release the official trailer.

Stay tuned for updates, behind-the-scenes content, and ways you can get involved in protecting Ireland’s blue forests.

Together, we can help our oceans thrive again!
