Zero Waste Alliance Ireland welcomes the European Commission’s assessment
of Member States’ progress towards the 2030 waste targets. Problems we have
identified in earlier assessments of Ireland’s waste management performance
and our previous policy submissions on topics of waste remain evident.
With limited time remaining, existing commitments must translate into effective
implementation, enforcement and investment. We regard the EU targets as
minimum requirements rather than the limit of ambition.
